It all started at the bar, Bad Genie.
Wanting to call it a night, I was reluctantly pulled to "just one more bar" for the evening. While sitting at the corner table longing for my pillow, I was approached by someone who turned out to be the cutest person I ever met. This "someone" introduced himself in the most honest and definitely odd way: "My name is Carl Anton and I like Sci-fi."
The rest of the evening flew by. My pillow was quickly forgotten and the conversation was endless. No typical "Can I buy you a drink" or "Dang, girl - you look'in go-o-o-od" lines were spoken. Instead the people around us seemed to disappear until it felt like we were the only ones in the bar.
Fast foward to my 32nd birthday, January 13, 2012. Getting ready for my birthday dinner at Elsa's, Carl was pacing in my living room. For the life of me, I couldn't figure what his deal was - I said, "Carl! Sit down puh-lease, you're making me nervous." Half hour later, I figured out what he was pacing for...I really don't recall much of the proposal. It was a surreal blur - I was caught 100% offguard and all I could keep saying was, "Thank you Carl. Thank you." Oh, I also made sure to squeeze in a few, "Is that real?!" Jeez, sometimes I'm just not cool. Eventually, I remembered to say, "Yes!"
This birthday goes down in the record books as one of my top two birthdays. And p.s. The ring is gorgeous - he nailed me down to a t.
Gosh, I love surprises...
Congrats Sara! I enjoyed reading your story. Almost like a fairy tale or something you see in the movies. So happy for you!
